Why Britain is no longer truly Great
Today, whilst sitting around thinking, something I often do as I have too much time on my hands, I had an epiphany: The reason we are no longer great is because we spend too much time worrying about the future, and not enough time doing anything about it. This is most accurately symbolised by the plethora of heath and safety laws coming from the different levels of govenment that rule over us, and being enforced by an army of soul-less husks of people in hi vis jackets, who have endless reems of paperwork for you to fill in for every little thing you wish to do, they are trying to protect us from thw world, but in doing so are removing all the fun and life from it. And this is why we dont have enough scientists, because the men with addenoids tell us that doing experiments may be dangerous, so therefore we are stuck testing the few safe and boring things we can. Over. And over. And over again, so fewer people are taking the sciences at university, and over 80 university science departments have closed due top the lack of people taking the subject since 1990. And all of this because the politicians are trying to save us from ourselves, but what they forget is that it wont be a politician, or an eco-mentalists with their fair-trade organic peace biscuits that will save us from global warming, but a scientist. That is why I belive the government should stop trying o save us from oursleves, and let us get on with living how we want, let us mess around with sodium in Chemistry, let us accelerate things to mind bggling speeds in physics, givce grants to science projects, allow us to rediscover that lost art that once put us at the head of world civilisation, the art of invention.
